I tend to dwell on the negative reviews at times. It's not enough for me that guys I like and who's work I like think enough of me to book me on their shows. I want to impress everybody. My friend Jason passed along some advice from the comic world. No matter how much you hate a comic, somewhere there's someone who loves that comic more than any other. I know that it is not possible to impress everybody, but I know that I'm someone's favorite wrestler (Gina counts).
I was going to respond to the review, but I don't want to be Kevin Smith. CV is allowed not to be a big fan of my work just like I'm allowed not to love the work of some of the flippy floppers. I agreed and disagree with some of the comments. He knows what he likes.
I don't remember when I was training with Harley, Dory, Derek, Travis, or even Horace (I'm a name dropping fool) having a conversation about wearing different colors than my opponent. I guess they didn't know what's important.
Red and black on the indies is like blue and red in comics. It's just out there. Everyone is in red and black. I assumed that fact that Gage was punching me in the face was enough to tell folks we weren't on the same team.
The thing I always have to remember about reviews is that Roger Ebert is widely regarded as one of the best movie critics of our time. He wrote the movie "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls." It is widely regarded as one of the worst movies of our time.

I don't agree with much of what the reviewer says. I will say I'm impressed that he didn't let the crowd reactions sway his match reviews in the least. The crowd was really into the main event, more so than I even thought they could be after going nuts during the Ego/Frankie match before it.
The reviewer ranks the Jacobs/Scarpone match as one of the top three of the night. Jacobs did some impressive moves, but the crowd was quieter for this match than any other, and I wouldn't rank it in the top matches of the show. Most of that has to do with the crowd not knowing Jacobs though. If he keeps coming, I'm sure he'll grow really over with the crowd, because he is an extremely entertaining wrestler. I'd love to see Jacobs against any of the cruiserweights.

I wonder if this is the guy that was shilling all of Cannon's stuff at the merch table. Because if he was, he's a tool. I was just walking by looking at stuff and he was like.... "man you got to have Cannon T-shirt." Jokingly I responded, if I was going to wear a worker's T-shirt, I would wear Gage Octane (Octane's stuff was right next to his.) he fired back.... "Who's Gage Octane". Jokingly, I responded to who's Arik Cannon. He said that I didn't know wrestling if I didn't know who Cannon is.
Now I do know who he is and I knew who he was prior to the show. The point I am trying to make is that this guy didn't have a clue about 80% of the roster working on the show tonight, he just knew who a lot of the guys that have worked for No Limits and IWA: Mid South were. So clearly he was going to give props to them and none to anybody else.
I'm hoping that he didn't treat other fans like that that looked at Cannon's stuff, because I don't think Cannon's a bad guy, hell we talked for a good while in the lockeroom and he's pretty cool. But if he's going to have this guy shill his stuff and them talk about the workers the fans in 3XW know and love, I doubt Cannon's going to get a very good reception.

What I said about Chris V and Cannon is True. It isn't a dig. Chris V drives Cannon to wrestling shows, and then reviews them. They come as package deal. Chris V of course favors the style of wrestling that his friend/passenger performs. He probably would give Hogan/Andre a 1/2 * with the comment "slow paced match"

LOL. I would hate to see his review of the Bret/Shawn 60 minute Iron Man Match if he thought an 10 minute Hulk/Andre match was slow paced. What I said about Chris V and Cannon is True. You also put quotations around superstar when referring to Cannon, did you not mean that as a dig ?

This isn't meant to sound harsh, but probably will...
I know ChrisV strictly through the IWA No Limits board. It is very clear that IWA No Limits' fans, are very disrespectful to the entire Iowa wrestling scene...unless IWA talent is used at a show. I don't remember one report, from anybody who praises IWA's product, have anything nice to say about the Iowa scene other than things like...Ian Rotten battled Eddie Kingston in a steel cage in one of the best matches Iowa has ever seen.
IWA fans, in general, I feel are some of the most bias fans. They don't give anybody a chance unless they have name or highspot value.
I'm on the other hand, bias on the Iowa scene. I'd like to see anybody top the professionalism of 95% of the talent that has came into this state.
To point out two things ChrisV had in his report...
1) He didn't know who Mr. Destiny is. Yet he is a fan of Iowa Wrestling in general. Well, Destiny has been around for years and, AND...made appearance on WWE TV and, AND will be at WWE Televised events this next week in Indiana. I guess you might not know that though if you're a mark for has been name value, like Ian Rotten.
2) Havyk and Devin Carter are trainees? Next time you are in the presence of either of those two individuals Chris, why don't you tell them that. See how they react.
For an in-depth report...look at the 3XW site. It's clear, looking at those 2 comments alone, that ChrisV knows about as much about the Iowa scene as Ian Rotten knows about paying his bills...which isn't much.

Ouch, Austin. The PR#CKery continues. I, for one, will never introduce myself to Ian Rotten as Austin Baylis. At least not unless I want to get my arse kicked.

I've met Ian on several occasions. He is probably a decent guy. Business wise, I don't like how he opperates.

David- No doubt. I've been suspect of anyone using stars in matches for a long time. It to me automatically tells me they hate Hogan and love Daniels. I personally am of the ilk of loving Hogan. Not hating Daniels, but just like the fact that I can sit down and be drawn in and entertained.
Todd- I don't want to start a big pissing contest, but actually I know exactly how much you pay Cannon because he brags about it. I can post it on the board if you would like. Also, knowing what guys are getting paid by different promotions has been my business for almost 5 years. That is something you HAVE to know so you don't get hosed. You can delete this post after you read it, I am not trying to make this a public thing, but I do probably get a little upset about 3xw or anybody running in Iowa paying out of state guys more than the local guys. This does NOT apply to guys that have "name" value such as Aries, Kazarian, Kip James, etc. Indy wrestling in Iowa is something that I passionately LOVE. I love the guys that have become a part of it since i've been involved and those that were here before me. I am all about bringing in guys that keep the shows fresh, but I think giving work to the guys that are already here is important to keeping the "Iowa scene" growing, not just be an extension of MN or IL as it was 5 years ago. That is all.

It's not a big deal, I'm just expressing my opinion. Don't worry about it. I just get worked up when people bash guys that I see working hard, and trying their best to give wrestling there all. I've been around the Iowa talent that was basically said to be trainee material for 2 years now...in that time I've become very close to a number of those guys and take it to heart when somebody takes a shot on them.

You have been making snide remarks ever since we booked Cannon, you shouldn't worry about who we book or about our shows. Really professional epw, impressive.
